STATEMENT:
" We began our collaboration by aimlessly wandering
around the streets of Auckland together, in between drinking coffee in cafes.
We talked about the things that interested us both creatively – for
example, the mysteries of everyday narratives with their fragments and elipses,
and the role of sequence in making sense – and of course we talked about
people and shared stories. We were also interested in how our shared concerns
"translate" differently in our different art forms.
The conversations we had were then continued via email, and through our respective
mediums, as we sent work back and forth, each beginning new ideas and also
responding to one another's ideas. So this work is in a sense the result of
an ongoing conversation. It offers the reader/viewer glimpses onto the lives
of a group of characters, never revealing the whole story but letting you
come to your own conclusions. Even we don't know what the whole story is here."
